THE BEGINNING
"Selling produce is not just a business at Southside Produce Market, it's a family tradition." It is a tradition that dates back to the 1930s when Andy's grandfather, Jake Pizzolato, started the first fruit stand in Baton Rouge. Since then, Andy has expanded the family business into Southside Produce.
OUR HISTORY
Southside Produce was started in 1987 in Denham Springs. After Andy's father, Harry, sold Fruitland in 1992, he joined forces with Andy to open the current location of Southside Produce on Perkins Road in Baton Rouge. They have transformed a once 300 square foot store into a 28,000 square foot facility, making it the LARGEST HYBRID PRODUCE MARKET in the South– We can go from Open Air to Indoor Climate Control at the push of a button!

Whenever possible, Southside Produce provides fruits, vegetables, and other products that are locally grown or made from produce that is locally grown. The Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry developed Louisiana Grown, Real Fresh program to identify and promote Louisiana agricultural specialty crops and the value-added food products of such crops grown, harvested, and processed in Louisiana. southside Produce is proud to participate in the Louisiana Grown, Real Fresh program
